Lewis Homestead: A Historic Home Reimagined
Once the longtime residence of beloved local veterinarian “Doc Lewis,” this home was on the brink of demolition. Years of wear, a dysfunctional layout, and multiple disjointed additions left the structure in rough shape—most would have torn it down. But the decision was made to save it, and that’s when MKH stepped in.
We reimagined the floor plan to make the most of its 2,100 sq. ft. footprint, transforming the original 3-bedroom, 2.5-bath layout into a spacious and functional 4-bedroom, 3-bath home with a dedicated laundry room. Thought to have been originally built in the 1950s, with additions from the 1970s and 80s, the home was fully rebuilt in 2021—bringing cohesion, modern livability, and lasting quality to its storied past.
This project is a testament to the heart of our work: breathing new life into spaces worth saving. We’re honored to have played a role in preserving the legacy of this home while giving it a fresh chapter for the next generation.
